University of Cincinnati vs Wright State University
After Comparing the websites of the University of Cincinnati and Wright State University, I was able to tell many similarities and few differences between the two websites. I was actually surprised by how much they had in common. The layout was very similar. Navigation was also eerily similar. Both websites also showed the same content. The only real difference between the two websites was that they both did not have helpful apps for smart phones.
Both websites were fairly unattractive. They had a large amount of color at the top of the page but as you went farther and farther down, the webpage got more and more white. However both websites do have a very valuable search function which is easily seen from all pages within the sites. There are even links to social websites to help you connect to them in various ways. There is also a useful "contact us" link at the bottom of all pages. Both of the website's layouts are fairly similar. The only difference I truly noticed was that the University of Cincinnati had red and black colors while Wright State University had green and yellow colors.
Both websites were easily navigable. The only thing one could complain about was that Both the University of Cincinnati and Wright State University did not have cascading style sheets on the front page. UC made up for it by having these cascading pages once you got deeper into the website. WSU did not have cascading style sheets whatsoever. For both websites, there are main navigations at the top and bottom of the website. At the top of both websites, there are links to the main parts of the website, a search function, and ways to connect to the sites from various social media outlets. At the bottom of the websites there are "contact us" links for emails, phone numbers among other things.
As for the content of both websites, the University of Cincinnati and Wright State University both have an abundance of information. This includes if you were accepted, how many scholarships you received, what dorm room you were accepted into and many more things. You can also find out general information about all majors and even specific information about your major. There are links for applying for colleges and even more. You can also look at many pictures and videos about the campus. You can also sign up for campus tours and even apply for the university in general. Both UC and WSU provide all of the same information, but UC's information was a little more easily accessible.
As for technical aspects, both college's websites worked perfectly fine. All links worked and all pages loaded fast. I found nothing bad about how the web page was made. There is one big difference between the two colleges that really sets UC apart from WSU. The University of Cincinnati has a special group of tools called "UCTools". Wright State University has nothing comparable to these tools. “UCTools” has tools such as blackboard, one stop, student email, UCmail, UCFilespace and even VPN. Wright state has none of these handy features.
After evaluating the websites of the University of Cincinnati and Wright State University, I was able to tell that both websites were created very well. The functionality of both websites were phenomenal. The layout for the websites were okay, though they lacked the visual enticement of other websites. Navigation for both websites were designed well. One can easily get to where they need with no problem at all due to the search functionality. They did lack cascading style sheets but it was made up for. UC stands above WSU due to the tools that that UC gives such as blackboard, one stop, student email and many others. These websites use mostly quantitative information more than qualitative information.
